June 1st is the kick-off to the Atlantic Hurricane Season and, as always, preparedness is the key.  Justin Pearce is the Director of Charleston County Emergency Management who shared tips for getting ready for the 2026 hurricane season and discussed the importance of not waiting until a storm is approached to prepare.   Pearce spoke about his department’s preparedness and laid out what Lowcountry residents should be concerned about.  The county is part of a Hurricane Preparedness Expo on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the James Island Walmart.  William Everett is the manager of that location and provided specifics on what would be available at the Expo and how and why families should attend this year’s event.
