The Homeless Period Project: Lowcountry is a local charity that creates menstrual period packs for all the schools in BCSD, CCSD, DD2, and DD4 so that nurses and teachers do not have to pay for these products out of their own pockets and students do not have to miss school if they or their family cannot afford the products since 1 in 5 students DO miss school on a regular basis for this reason. We also serve over 50 homeless shelters, veteran services, section 8 housing, and food banks so parents do not have to miss work and risk losing jobs or promotions because they cannot afford products and have to choose between food and menstrual supplies.
On December 8, we will be having an all-male packing party in order to create ally packs for young men to carry with them and spread awareness and education to men and boys about the topic of menstruation and how they can help their mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, and all other menstruators in their lives in the fight for menstrual equity.
Dads bring your sons, and brothers and grandfathers and let’s get comfortable and ask questions and get answers! We need men in the medical community who can answer questions and stimulate discussion.
Come pack with us!
