Shaq and the Engagement Ring

SHAQ was in an Atlanta-area Zales jewelry store looking to purchase some new earrings . . . and he saw a guy who was asking how much he still had to pay on an engagement ring he had on layaway.

Shaq walked up and offered to pay it off for him.  At first, the guy didn’t want to accept, but they talked about it, and he eventually agreed.

Supposedly, Shaq didn’t intend on the story getting out, he just wanted to make people smile.  But someone was filming him in the store, and they put it up on social media . . . and it went viral.

During the NBA after-show on TNT on Tuesday, Shaq said, quote, “I saw the guy, he was just so shy.  He was saying, ‘Hey, how much do I owe to pay off the ring . . . he was a young kid, a hardworking guy .
