According to Mix 95.9 media partner Count on 2 News, due to a recent rise in COVID-19 cases, the following school districts have announced that they will move to virtual learning:

  • Charleston County School District – “Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary School, Chicora Elementary School, and Murray-LaSaine Montessori School are moving to virtual learning effective September 2. In a letter to parents, the schools stated they expect to return to in-person learning on September 16th… Charles Pinckney and Sullivan’s Island Elementary Schools announced Tuesday they were also shifting to virtual learning this week. CCSD’s Early College High School is also learning virtually.”
  • Colleton County School District – “The Colleton County School District announced it will transition to e-learning/virtual learning beginning August 30th through September 10th.”
  • Dorchester District 2 – “Dorchester District Two (DD2) Board members on Wednesday voted to move to virtual learning effective Tuesday, September 7. Students would return to in-person learning on September 16.”
  • Dorchester District 4 – “In a letter to parents Monday, the district said it will observe e-Learning days on September 2-3, and then temporarily transition to virtual learning on September 7th until further notice.”
  • Georgetown County School District, including Georgetown Middle, Georgetown High, Andrews High and Carvers Bay High – “Students tentatively will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, following the Labor Day holiday… Georgetown County also announced Monday some of its schools will go virtual beginning August 31.”
